BEFORE YOU ENTER THE MAISON
A Few Things You May Be Wondering: Choosing postpartum support is personal, and it's completely normal to have questions before welcoming someone into your home. Here are a few things we'd like every Guest to know before beginning their Maison Cheniah experience.
🏡 Do I need to prepare my home before you arrive? Absolutely not. Please don't clean for us, organize for us, or feel like you need to entertain us. We're entering your home during a season of transition—not conducting an inspection. Come as you are.
🤰 When should I book postpartum support? You can begin planning your postpartum care during pregnancy or after your baby arrives. Booking during pregnancy may provide more scheduling flexibility, especially for overnight or ongoing support. Already home with baby? You're still welcome to reach out. We'll discuss current availability.
⏰ Is there a minimum number of hours? Yes. Daytime in-home support has a 2-hour minimum. Overnight support is scheduled in 8-hour shifts. Package hours may be scheduled according to the terms of your selected Maison experience and provider availability.
🍼 Do you provide medical care? No. Maison Cheniah provides non-clinical postpartum and newborn support. We do not diagnose conditions, prescribe or administer medical treatment, or replace your physician, midwife, pediatrician, mental-health professional, lactation clinician, or other licensed healthcare provider. If something is outside our scope, we'll encourage you to contact the appropriate professional and can help connect you with resources when available.
🧺 Will you help around the house? Yes—within our postpartum support scope. This may include baby laundry, bottle and pump-part washing, light kitchen cleanup, simple meal preparation, organization, and light household resetting related to supporting the Guest, baby, and postpartum environment. Maison Cheniah is not a housekeeping or professional cleaning service.
😴 Can I sleep while you're there? Please do. If rest is what you need and your selected service allows us to safely support baby while you sleep, we want you to rest. You do not need to stay awake to entertain your postpartum care provider. Rest is part of your healing.
🌈 Do you support families who don't fit a traditional family structure? Absolutely. Maison Cheniah believes there is no single definition of family. We welcome diverse family structures, identities, cultures, traditions, and paths to parenthood. Every Family Deserves a Maison.™
💳 Are deposits refundable? No. All required deposits are non-refundable and are applied toward the total investment for your selected experience. Your requested dates are not reserved until your required agreement has been signed and your deposit has been received.
📅 Do you offer payment plans? Yes. Qualifying experiences of $500 or more may be eligible for a payment plan. After the required non-refundable deposit, scheduled payments are due every two weeks according to the payment schedule in your signed agreement.
🌿 Is sliding-scale care available? A limited number of sliding-scale opportunities may be available based on income eligibility, available funding, scheduling, and the type of support requested. Documentation may be required, and approval is not guaranteed. Guests receiving approved sliding-scale care receive the same respect, dignity, and compassionate support as every other Maison Cheniah Guest.
🚗 Are travel expenses included? Travel-related expenses are handled according to your service agreement. When applicable, expenses such as parking, tolls, mileage, public transportation, Uber/Lyft, or travel outside the standard service area will be discussed before services are confirmed. No surprise travel charges.
💙 What if my needs change after I book? That's postpartum. Your recovery changes. Babies change. Families change. Tell us. We'll review your care preferences and determine what adjustments can reasonably be made within your selected experience, our scope, and provider availability. Your care can change with you.
🚨 When You Need More Than the Maison Maison Cheniah is part of your village, but we are not emergency or medical care. If you or your baby are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or seek immediate medical attention. Questions or concerns involving your physical or mental health or your baby's health may require your physician, midwife, pediatrician, mental-health professional, lactation clinician, or another qualified healthcare provider. Knowing when to bring another professional into the village is part of responsible care.
Still Have Questions? You don't need to have everything figured out before contacting us. That's exactly what your complimentary 15-minute consultation is for. Bring your questions. Bring your concerns. Tell us what you're hoping postpartum can look like. We'll start there.
